CattleScale estimates the live weight of an animal from photographs. It is an estimate made by an AI model. It is not a weigh scale, and it must not be used to sell an animal by weight, to work out a dose, or to fill in an NLIS or vendor declaration.

Common questions
Is the first weighing free?
While we offer it, the first weighing on each install of the app is free: one weight unlock per install, with the dollar figure, no code needed. Seeing the assessment itself (the breed, the photo check, the warnings, including any possible health or welfare concern, and how wide the range is) is always free. Sex, age, measurements and health notes unlock with the weigh after your free first one. The free weighing is a gift, not a contract term, and we may withdraw or change it. If you have already paid for an unlock, withdrawing the free weighing does not affect it.
What does it cost?
Seeing the breed, the range around the weight, and the warnings, including any possible health or welfare concern, is free. Unlocking the weight for one animal is one purchase;
in Australia it is A$1.00. Weighing packs of 10 to 500 weighings, and the optional
PDF report, are separate purchases. Prices differ from country to country.
How do I restore a purchase?
Do I need an account?
No. CattleScale has no sign in of any kind. We do not collect or hold your name, email address, phone number or password. A purchase is proved by a signed token that carries no identity.
How do I get a better reading?
The number is an estimate from photographs, not a weigh scale. To give the photos a scale, include the printed ruler sheet: print the CattleScale ruler sheet on A4 at 100%, not fit to page, and put it in the photo, clipped to a rail or held flat against the animal's shoulder, in the same plane as the animal's side. The app reads the sheet. This applies when you take the photos. To sharpen a reading you already have, retake the photos and weigh again. That is a new assessment, so its weight needs its own unlock.
What happens to my photographs?
Your photographs are read by an AI provider (Google's Gemini, or OpenAI as a backup) to produce the assessment. We do not store them. The provider may keep them for a time set by its own terms. Your photographs are never sent to our analytics service and are hidden in any screen recording. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
